Frequently Asked Questions
Who qualifies for the free Community tier?
Any nonprofit, community organization, mutual aid group, civic association, union, independent journalist, or small business with under $500K annual revenue. We verify on submission. Limit is one release per organization per calendar month.
Do you publish everything submitted?
No. Every submission is reviewed by an editor. We decline releases that are defamatory, factually false without supporting evidence, purely promotional with no news value, or that violate our editorial ethics policy. Paid submissions are reviewed against the same standards as Community releases — payment does not guarantee publication.
How is the wire different from a traditional PR newswire?
Radio Free America is an accountability journalism publication, not a distribution-only service. Releases appear on our site alongside investigative reporting. Our editorial team reads every submission. We flag factual claims that contradict primary sources, and we publish corrections. We also offer a right-of-response option for subjects of our own coverage at no charge.
What happens after I submit?
You'll receive an email confirmation immediately. Our editorial team reviews your submission within the window for your tier. If approved, you'll get a second email with your permanent wire URL. If we need changes or clarification, we'll contact you directly before publishing.
Can I submit a response to an RFA investigation?
Yes, and that response goes through our editorial review and may be published as part of the investigation record — at no charge to you, regardless of tier. Contact editor@radiofreeamerica.press directly for investigation responses.
Are payments refundable?
If we decline your submission for editorial reasons, we issue a full refund. If we decline for policy violations (defamation, fraud, etc.), no refund is issued. All payment processing is handled securely through Stripe.
