RFA National Wire — Public Distribution Network

Your story.
National reach.
No gatekeepers.

The RFA National Wire distributes press releases, public interest announcements, and civil society communications to journalists, newsrooms, and the public record — free for qualifying organizations, paid tiers for broader distribution.

Not another press release mill

EIN Presswire and PRLog move volume. We move stories that matter — and we review every single one before it goes out.

Editorial First

Every submission reviewed

Free and paid submissions go through the same editorial review. We reject spam, PR fluff, misleading claims, and SEO-only material. Your release is read by a human before it hits the wire.

No Expiration

Free tier is real and permanent

This is not a 7-day trial. Qualifying organizations get one free release per month, permanently, with the same editorial review and archiving as paid tiers. No credit card required.

Civil Society Priority

Nonprofits and watchdogs first

Advocacy orgs, watchdog groups, civil liberties organizations, and community nonprofits receive elevated placement. Civil society news is not a second-class product here.

Dual Wire

Permanent Record

Indexed and searchable forever

Every approved release is permanently archived, indexed, and searchable on the RFA wire. Not buried in a database no one accesses — part of a public record journalists can actually find.

Transparent Rejection

If we decline, we tell you why

Paid submissions that do not pass editorial review are refunded in full with a brief explanation. We do not silently discard submissions or keep fees for rejected work.

We review everything. We decline some things.

This is not censorship. It is editorial responsibility. The RFA Wire is a curated public record, not an open dump.

What we will decline

  • Press releases that contain factually misleading or unverified claims presented as fact
  • Spam submissions or releases written purely for SEO link-building
  • Political campaign material or partisan electoral advocacy
  • Content that violates RFA sourcing and attribution standards
  • Submissions that target private individuals without clear public interest justification
  • Commercial promotions disguised as public-interest announcements
Refund policy: Paid submissions that do not pass editorial review are refunded in full. We will provide a brief written explanation of the reason for decline. Decisions may be appealed by email within 14 days.

What we actively want

The RFA Wire was built for voices that do not have PR budgets or access to traditional wire services. We actively seek:

  • + Public interest investigations and accountability reporting
  • + Nonprofit and advocacy organization announcements
  • + Civil rights, labor, environmental, and consumer protection actions
  • + Government transparency and open records findings
  • + Community organization news from underrepresented regions

The EFF shouldn't pay for distribution. Neither should you.

The free Community tier is a permanent fixture of the RFA Wire, not a trial hook. We believe that accountability organizations, civil liberties watchdogs, community nonprofits, and public interest advocates should have access to a credible national distribution channel without a monthly fee.

Organizations that qualify for the free tier include 501(c)(3) nonprofits, civil society advocacy groups, labor unions, journalism organizations, watchdog groups, and mutual aid organizations. Qualifying orgs can submit one release per month at no cost, with the same editorial review as paid tiers.

RFA actively aggregates civil society releases. If your organization is doing public interest work in your community, we may reach out directly to offer free wire inclusion. Credentialed public interest orgs can also apply for a comped Standard tier subscription.

RFA National Wire and DFP Regional Wire operate as a coordinated distribution partnership. Submit to one; reach both audiences.

National coverage · radiofreeamerica.press/wire.php

The Radio Free America National Wire distributes to journalists, newsrooms, and public-record indexes across the United States. Emphasis on accountability journalism, civil society, and public interest communications. Editorial review required for all submissions.

Dual-wire distribution: Standard and Premium RFA subscribers automatically receive distribution on the DFP Regional Wire at no additional cost. Submitters to the DFP Regional Wire can opt into RFA national distribution for qualifying stories. For California-based organizations, this means simultaneous regional and national reach from a single submission.

Common questions

What happens after I submit a release?

Your submission enters editorial review. A member of the RFA wire team reads every submission before it is approved. You will receive an email confirming receipt. Standard tier submissions are reviewed within 24 hours; Community and Basic tier submissions are typically reviewed within 3 business days. You will be notified of approval, revisions requested, or — in rare cases — decline with a brief explanation.

How long does editorial review take?

Community and Basic tier submissions: up to 3 business days. Standard tier: 24-hour priority review. Premium tier: reviewed by a dedicated wire editor, typically same business day. Time-sensitive submissions may be flagged as urgent in the submission form — we accommodate breaking news on a best-effort basis for Standard and Premium tiers.

What is your refund policy if my submission is declined?

Paid submissions (Basic, Standard, Premium) that do not pass editorial review are refunded in full to the original payment method within 5–7 business days. You will receive a written explanation of the reason for decline. Decisions can be appealed by email within 14 days. Community (free) tier submissions are simply declined with an explanation — no charge to reverse. Refunds are not issued for submissions that are approved and distributed, then retracted at the submitter's request.

What kinds of submissions get rejected?

We decline submissions that are factually misleading, are written primarily for SEO link acquisition, constitute political campaign or electoral advocacy material, target private individuals without clear public interest justification, or violate our sourcing and attribution standards. We also decline commercial promotions disguised as public-interest announcements. If you are uncertain whether your release qualifies, email wire@radiofreeamerica.press before submitting.

What is the difference between the RFA Wire and the DFP Regional Wire?

How do I qualify for the free Community tier?

The Community tier is open to nonprofit organizations, civic advocacy groups, labor unions, public interest journalism organizations, watchdog groups, mutual aid organizations, and similar civil society entities. You will be asked to provide your organization name, tax ID or equivalent identification, and a brief description of your public interest mission during submission. Qualifying organizations are approved at RFA editorial discretion. Commercial entities and for-profit public relations purposes do not qualify for the free tier.
